Prehistoric Prize

An Orthoceras Fossil pendant wrapped in sterling silver wire and measures 2” long by 5/8” wide. Orthoceras fossils are dated back to the Silurian Age 400 + million years ago and are the earliest recognizable animals. They are ancestors to the modern day squid. Even though they were among the earliest forms of life, this class of nautiloid is still considered one of the most intelligent forms of ocean life. The Orthoceras ranged in size from a few inches in length to over six feet! They could swim as well as crawl on the ocean floor. By filling the chambers in their shells with air they could float through the seas propelling themselves by squirting jets of water. As they died their shells accumulated upon the ocean floor, then covered by sediments they transformed into stone over the ages.

Gorgeous three strand necklace which showcases a spectacular range of the colors of tourmaline with lots of flash from the small faceted button beads The crowning glory is the pendant of two watermelon tourmaline slices wrapped in 14k gold filled wire and accented with green, pink and clear Swarovski crystals that echo the colors in the slices. The necklace is 22” long with an antique silver colored clasp and the pendant measures 2 ¼” long by ¾” wide. Beads are strung on steel wire with a vintage silver toned three-strand clasp.
